should have not believed me; for virtue cannot so inoculate our old stock but we shall relish. In William essay corruption simple english Shakespeares Hamlet, many questions are raised as to whether or not Hamlet is really in love with Ophelia. He was sometimes so rude and mean to her. From this definition, we might conclude that Hamlet is metaphorically attempting to deliver Ophelia from evil, that he sees her as a nunnery - pure - virtuous! If this was the case, and Ophelia is really pregnant, then Hamlet was only looking out for her and trying to help her.

It was very hard for Hamlet to show his feelings toward Ophelia. Even if he said that he wanted to send her to a nunnery, at other times it seems like he loves her. Hamlet gives advice to Polonius telling him, Let her not walk ithsun. I believe that there is a lot of evidence arguing that Hamlet never loved Ophelia and that he was just using her. Hamlet only confesses that he did indeed loved Ophelia, but only when it goes on to says that Hamlet never loved her (Habib, 23). Hamlet confesses that he loved her, but then goes on to say that he never loved her. Throughout the entire play, Hamlets love for Ophelia is questioned.
